Do you remember that song by Lionel Richie, “Ballerina Girl”? When I was little I loved to dance. I took tap and ballet and was obsessed! One year I was able to take private lessons and I danced to that song for my solo at the recital. I was so nervous and excited all at the same time. I was lucky enough to be able to attend quite a few ballet’s as a little girl and like many others had dreams of being a Prima Ballerina when I grew up. Ballet will always hold a special place in my heart.

For the last couple years I have been dreaming of photographing ballerinas! We were finally able to make that dream a reality! Now I get to blend two of my passions and I am beyond thrilled about it!

I met Dru through a friend and was so excited when we were able to meet up for this session. She’s an amazing thirteen, that’s right I said thirteen, year old dancer and I couldn’t wait to photograph her! We met up on a gorgeous, but windy day, and had the best time ever. She makes it look so easy but I know how difficult what she was doing is. So graceful, so beautiful, I could watch ALL day! At one point a couple little girls yelled “Hi” from their boat because they were so excited to see a real like “Princess Ballerina”. I couldn’t agree more, girls!
