I think like many careers out there photographers have their own special niche. Although I shoot everything from weddings to families… newborns hold a near and dear place in my heart.

I started in photography after the birth of my first daughter. I was in love with capturing every single tiny detail so that I would never forget. That initial love has grown to wanting to capture that for all of my clients. Those tiny toes, sweet baby smiles and just all around the special newborn look that every baby comes into this world with.

My love for newborn photography grew immensely after losing my 2nd born. It was like something was shaken inside of me that allowed me to really see how felting this season in life is and how I truly wanted to remember every last second. So I started learning, I started practicing and ultimately I completely fell head over heels in love with newborn photography.

So here is why I love newborn photography….

I get to snuggle a sweet new baby for a few hours. There is absolutely nothing better in this world then a new baby…their soft hair, sweet little noises and their new baby smell (yes they have this sweetness to them that I just can’t describe).

I get to provide a memory to my families (ok they are my clients but they feel like family :)) that they get to cherish for the rest of their lives. For me this is a unique and beautiful gift that I can provide.

I am challenged for those few hours of our session. Every baby…just like every person…is different. We all have different likes and dislikes and I get the challenge of trying to determine what works for each sweet new one. I love this part of newborn photography because it allows me to continue to grow….never growing stagnate.

Over all newborn photography is the hardest, most rewarding form of photography for me. You have to have a lot of patience’s, be willing to adapt and have a true understanding of these sweet, tiny souls. I take a lot of pride in capturing these blessed memories and each time a family chooses me as their newborn photographer I feel that I have been given a gift.
